In My Postbox #34

In My Mailbox idea from Kristi @ The Story Siren, and all links take you to Amazon UK.

Hi guys! Hope you are all well and have had a great week, whatever you've been reading! :) So many amazing books this week! I wanna put in the synopsis' for these beauts, but if I do that will be one hell-uva post! So, make sure to click the Amazon links to check them out! None of these should be missed!

FOR REVIEW:

Tenth Grade Bleeds by Heather Brewer
I brought the first two books in this series when they were published here in Old Blighty back in February. Really enjoyed them and the lovely Nichola at Penguin sent me this to review! :D Thank you! CANNOT WAIT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS TO VLAD NEXT!!!

Swim the Fly by Don Calame
I've heard a lot about this book and instantly added it to my To Read list. Sounds brilliant! And then the Leonora at Templar contacted me and as a result I now have a perdy copy! :D

An Act of Love by Alan Gibbons
The amazing Nina over at Orion sent me an email last week about this book and as soon as I read the contents of that email, I hit that reply button faster than I think I ever have. The way she described it and the pdf press release included inside had me sold. It sounds a-freaking-mazing! Currently sitting top of my reading pile! Thank you Nina!!

BOUGHT:

Yeah! I already have this. I'd be an awful JK Rowling fan if I didn't... but we went to a fair at the weekend and there was a book stall. Books are like magnets to me. Was browsing and saw this. And guess what... IT'S FIRST EDITION!!! And as far as can be seen it's never been read. In amazing condition and the spine creaks beautifully! The cover even CRACKED when I opened it! And it's all so tight and compressed! £2.99. Amazing. Colour me happy. Need to complete my collection in hardback, and that was the main reason I got this. Just Chamber of Secrets to go now! Although I did feel a big rough getting it as a woman came like 10 seconds after me and was talking to who I presume was her husband saying "Tim's missing one. What one is it?" "Hm, something of fire. It's red right. It's got fire in the title..." I froze and clenched on to that bad boy! Then went to pay for it and the bloke goes "DAMMIT! THAT GUYS GOT IT! OFFER HIM MORE MONEY" I just walked off. Nope. My collection needs completing. Forget Tim! Haha! Mean but oh well! A boys gotta do what a boys gotta do!

And the following all come from The Book Depository which I used for the first time this week. I am so impressed. Getting US editions for the same prices as UK editions if not cheaper and with free P&P... what's not to love! The Scorch Trials and The Hunger Games came 1 day after being dispatched! 1 FREAKING DAY! Amazing stuff! Will definitely be using them again!!

The Scorch Trials by James Dashner
How amazing is that cover?! I loved the first book of this trilogy, The Maze Runner. This is released here in the UK in August but came out in America in October and I couldn't wait anymore. Plus that cover and the fact that it's a hardback had me sold! Now I just have to get a hardback of The Maze Runner, read this and I'm set for the release of the conclusion to the trilogy, The Death Cure which is out in America this autumn!! (Review for The Maze Runner can be found here!)

I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore
This was released last Summer and I loved it then, still love it and had to get this paperback edition. And I'm glad I did. It's beautiful! Cannot wait for The Power of Six which is out this Summer! :D (Review of I Am Number Four here!)

and Vampirates: Blood Captain by Justin Somper
Now I am a massive fan of this series! I have all 5 books out so far and am counting down the days till the finale, Immortal War is published!!! (32 days!!!). Now I already have these 3 books, in several formats actually. The origional covers, the new US editions and I have extras of 1 or 2 of them which I got sent to me from the amazing Justin himself! Had to get these, the re-issues so that I have at least 1 complete collection on my shelf. Also intend to get the rest of the new US covers because they are amazing! Look out for Vampirates Week, which you can find out about here, when it kickstarts here on 6th June!!

And then finally I got these beautiful creations!!! It's the US editions of The Hunger Games trilogy!!!!

They are so beautiful. I like the UK covers and was never a big fan of the US covers until the cover for Mockingjay... I freaking love it! And then the series as a whole grew on me. I adore this trilogy and had to have the US editions. I mean that shade of blue... Just knock me over already! It's so much more amazing in the flesh as you can see below...

And the spines are amazing too!

So that's In My Postbox done for another week. Thanks for reading if you got all the way to the end of that colossal post, or thanks if you just checked out the pics! Haha! Happy reading! :)

  1. Dude, what a week! I LOVE the US editions of The Hunger Games - I have them too. So much nicer than ours. Enjoy all your new reads, and make sure they don't distract you from that demanding job of yours ;)

  5. I have The Maze Runner, but haven't read it yet. Looking forward to it! Those are some great finds. Words cannot express my jealousy at the 1st edition Goblet of Fire. Have a great week!

  6. Looks like these should keep you out of trouble for a while. ;)

The US cover for Mockingjay is really pretty, but I think I prefer the UK versions of the other two. I've read Hunger Games but the other two are waiting their turn in the towering pile next to my bed.

    Happy Reading!
