Waiting On Wednesday (9): Boys Don't Cry

Boys Don't Cry by Malorie Blackman.

Published by: Doubleday Children's Books.
Format: Hardback.
Released: 28th October 2010

Official synopsis: "In Boys Don't Cry, bestselling author Malorie Blackman explores the unchartered territory of teenage fatherhood. You’re waiting for the postman--he’s bringing your A level results. University, a career as a journalist--a glittering future lies ahead. But when the doorbell rings it’s your old girlfriend; and she’s carrying a baby. You’re fine to look after it, for an hour or two, while she does some shopping. Then she doesn’t come back and your future suddenly looks very different. Malorie’s dramatic new novel will take you on a journey from tears to laughter and back again."

This sounds absolutely fantastic! I don't think I've ever seen a book about teenage pregnancy that focuses on the father. Really looking forward to reading this. I've read Noughts And Crosses and loved it so can't wait to get into this one! Plus as a guy, it'll be good to see a book from a guys point of view as most in YA fiction these days are narrated by the girls so this will make for an interesting change!

  1. Great pick, Ryan :) I have seen this book around a lot lately but I wasn't aware of the plot.

I think another novel from the father's perspective was released earlier this year, I just can't remember the title.
